Sarah E. A. Sousa Elected to ABA Board of Governors

Arrowood LLP congratulates Sarah E. A. Sousa on her recent election to the Board of Governors of the American Bar Association (ABA).

In her new role, Ms. Sousa will serve a three-year term on the 43-member board which oversees the management, policies, finances and initiatives of the ABA. As a governing body, the Board of Governors has the authority to act and make decisions for the ABA when its House of Delegates is not in session. The Board of Governors also develops methods and specific plans for making the Association and its activities useful to members in their professional work.

Ms. Sousa was elected to the Board of Governors at the February 2026 Midyear Meeting of the ABA House of Delegates. Representing District 2, she will begin her term following ABA’s annual meeting in August 2026.

“I’m honored to have been elected to the Board of Governors,” said Ms. Sousa. “I look forward to proudly serving in a leadership capacity for the ABA, especially at a moment when the legal profession’s commitment to the rule of law is more important than ever.”

Recently promoted to partner at Arrowood LLP, Ms. Sousa focuses on employment and business law and civil litigation. Recognized for her legal expertise, she was named a 2025 Massachusetts Super Lawyer for Employment and Labor, and was also selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star for Employment and Labor from 2019 – 2024. Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly named her in 2020 as an “Up & Coming Lawyer” for Excellence in the Law.

She has been a member of the American Bar Association since 2019.
