$350,000 Settlement for MS Diagnosis Not Reported by Doctor

01/08/2007

Lisa G. Arrowood and Jed DeWick obtained a $350,000 settlement on behalf of a woman whose doctor failed to inform her that she had multiple sclerosis.  Despite knowing the plaintiff’s family history of MS and MRI’s that found white matter changes consistent with the disease, the doctor failed to disclose the diagnosis to the plaintiff or provide further evaluation and treatment which would have delayed the progression of the disease. The plaintiff alleged that due to the defendant’s negligence, the disease progressed unchecked for over a year causing a loss of brain tissue. The knowledge that the disease progressed unchecked also caused the plaintiff severe emotional distress.
