$1.01 Million Settlement Won for Mother Who Suffered Stroke While Delivering Twins

07/31/2006

Lisa G. Arrowood obtained a $1.01 Million settlement for a woman who suffered permanent neurological impairment including right-sided paralysis due to a stroke she suffered while delivering twins. Despite complaining of severe headaches to the first defendant (a primary care physician), and several visits to the second defendant (a neurologist) whom the plaintiff advised she had a stroke during a prior pregnancy, the plaintiff did not receive the testing or treatment to ensure that she would not suffer another stroke. During a deposition, the second defendant admitted to adding handwritten notes on medical records in an attempt to exonerate herself after she learned she was being sued for malpractice.
