Arrowood LLP Attorneys secure $25 million judgement in only business case among ‘TOP 10’ Massachusetts jury verdict of 2019

Ray Ausrotas and Ed Foye obtained a $16 Million jury verdict in a complex shareholder dispute, Lau et al. v. Bender et al. (No. 1581-CV-01074).  The December 2019 verdict came after a three-week trial before the Honorable Christopher Barry-Smith in Middlesex County Superior Court.  The trial involved 20 witnesses including five experts, and was vigorously contested by attorneys from Choate (a large Boston law firm) representing the opposing parties, a company and its individual directors and officers.  After deliberating for two days, the jury returned an award of $16 Million in favor of Arrowood LLP’s client’s direct and derivative claims, which was increased by the Court to a $25 Million judgment with mandatory interest.  The verdict was one of the “Top 10” awarded by a jury in Massachusetts in 2019 – and the only business dispute among the Top 10.  The report of the result, as published in Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, can be viewed by following this link: Lawyer’s Weekly January 2020
