Jed DeWick Represents CGIT Systems Inc. in Covid-Related Discrimination Case

Arrowood LLP Partner, Jed DeWick, presented arguments before a U.S. magistrate judge to dismiss claims in a COVID-related discrimination suit filed against his client, CGIT Systems Inc., by one of its employees.

The employee alleged that CGIT Systems discriminated against him when the company turned down his request to work from home during the coronavirus pandemic and then fired him when he didn’t come to the office. CGIT Systems maintained that the employee abandoned his job.

Mr. DeWick argued that the lawsuit did not show how CGIT Systems discriminated against the employee, failing to link his dismissal to claims of disability, age, race or national origin discrimination. The judge characterized the plaintiff’s complaint as “bare bones.”
